SA’s first ever virtual road trip with Mazda

It has been a tough few months, months where we have been unable to get out and free our minds, relax and just get away from the hustle and bustle that we experience in a place like Johannesburg. Fortunately, Gauteng has some incredibly beautiful and serene locations right on its doorstep. While many of us weren’t able to explore most of this beauty during the lockdown, well-known photographer and content creator – Jeff Siepman, partnered up with Mazda recently to partake in the Johannesburg leg of the #MazdaVirtualRoadTrip to remind us that we can now escape this city buzz whenever we want.

As part of the trip, Jeff was given some special memories to recreate, all of which were submitted by our lucky entrants. To do this, Jeff enlisted the help of the captivating Mazda CX-5 as his ride to complete this spectacular trip down memory lane. On the journey Jeff visited a variety of beloved locations, including the iconic Sun City, which took our first entrant, Khuthadzo Ramaloko back to the first-ever trip she and her husband went on as a married couple, affectionately dubbing it as their ‘Honeymoon Road Trip to Sun City’ The trip also saw Jeff recreate some stunning images of the rolling hills of the Pilansberg mountain, enabling our second entrant, Susan Goldstein to revel in the times gone past where she and her friends would visit these hilly terrains to immerse themselves in the endless beauty that nature displayed.

Of course, what would an escape from Johannesburg be without a journey to the beautiful, glimmering waters of the Hartbeespoort Dam? Here, Jeff really worked his magic, using the scenic surrounds of Harties to create some unreal imagery that would thrust our third entrant, Tamar Levin back in time to when she and her family of five would visit the area at least once a year, for 20 unbroken years.
