The Weekly Roundup: X7, 8-Series, Bullitt, Kona and Jimny
BMW X7
BMW launched its flagship SUV, the evocative X7. Due in South Africa early 2019, prices start at around R1.5m, expect the 30dXDrive and the M50dXDrive variants.
BMW also announced pricing for the SA-bound M850iXDrive, with a tag from R 1.9m, give or take a few thousand. It will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.4 V8 regenerating 390kW and 750Nm, reaching 100km/h in a claimed 3.7 seconds. The first models will reach us in the first quarter of 2019.
Ford Mustang Bullitt
Ford have announced the Mustang Bullitt will be available in South Africa. The upgraded V8 releases 338kW and 529Nm through a manual only, 6spd gearbox. Expect Bullitt nameplates in some cool places and the “Dark Highlands” green paint job is unique to this moniker. Expect pricing to be over the R1m mark for this incredibly limited edition when it hits SA shores.
Hyundai Kona
Hyundai launches their Mazda CX3 rival, called the Kona. I can’t help noticing current Jeep Cherokee design queues in the front. This slots in between the Creta and the Tucson with pricing at R379,000 for the 1.0T(88kW) Manual and R399,000 for the 2.0(110kW) Executive Auto.
