The @hyundai_sa #SantaFe interior is one of the best I’ve experienced in this price bracket. Well appointed and great quality materials. The push button gear change (aptly referred to as drive by wire by the Hyundai team) interface is the best application I’ve seen to date. Well designed and easy to use. My only gripe: wireless charging is a slot in the centre console with no air venting, forcing your mobile phone (especially iPhones) to overheat. CarPlay has a few bugs, but these should be ironed out in future software upgrades, and can also be mitigated by using the USB connectivity. Not ideal in a new car, but there is a workaround.

The new @hyundai_sa #SantaFe is an absolute beaut. That grill complimented by the edgy lights is a treat. It’s aggressive stance is intimidating from a rear view mirror. The interior is plush and well appointed. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included as standard on both derivatives (Exec and Elite). The 148kW 2.2d delivers 440Nm of torque via the slick 8-spd DCT gearbox. The drive is sublime and rather good through the corners.

The #Tucson based @hyundai_sa #SantaCruz will not be launched in SA for the foreseeable future. It’s a small SUV-based model that is only available in the US in left hand drive. Designed in California for the US market. I personally can’t see this being a popular vehicle in SA. It’s too soft.

@LandRoverSA have announced a bunch of updates to their #DiscoverySport range as well as a new #Autobiography addition to the #RangeRover #Evoque range. Expect over the air software updates, 3D surround camera, a Cabin Air Filtration system, Rear Collision Monitors and Spotify integrated into infotainment system. The Discovery Sport range will also see two new engine derivatives: a P290 213kW Ingenium petrol and the replacement of the current D180 with a new 146kW D200 diesel motor (up 15kW from D180).
